Jayne Helliwell, 25, of Stepney Green, tragically died after being hit by a double-decker bus while riding her bike in April.

This week Carlton Lewis, the driver of the No390 bus, was charged with causing death by dangerous driving.

Lewis, 59, of Wood Green, was released on bail to appear at Westminster Magistrates Court on October 15.

Avid cyclist Jayne, a Kingston University graduate, had been a talented animation artist and graphic designer.

She died just one week before her 26th birthday.

This week magazine editor and friend Amelia Gregory, who took Jayne on as an intern, paid tribute to the “talented and extremely likeable” young woman.

She told the Advertiser: “Jayne was quick, and she could turn her hand to pretty much any creative task with ease, be it designing, illustrating, writing.

“She just loved cycling and she’d cycle everywhere. She really believed in living a sustainable lifestyle.”
