Bus links to The Royal London Hospital are set to be improved under plans unveiled by the Mayor of London.

Routes serving the hospital, in Whitechapel Road, Whitechapel, will be amended to provide further direct links to stations on the Elizabeth line.

The intention is to create a smoother journey for patients, staff and visitors, especially those travelling from further afield.

The announcement is part of a series of proposals to improve bus services to hospitals across London.

Sadiq Khan said: “Our bus services are lifelines to the tens of thousands of patients, staff and visitors who use them every single day to get to London’s hospitals.

“We’re committed to making these journeys as affordable, convenient and easy to make as possible.

“We’re now working closely with hospitals and councils to deliver these improvements as soon as we possibly can.”

The specific nature of the changes will be announced in due course.
