A PASSENGER watchdog has welcomed plans to extend the 388 bus through East London to the West End.
The route from Hackney Wick through Bethnal Green, Shoreditch and the City which stops short at Temple is to go on to Embankment, by Charing Cross station, from November 1.
TravelWatch put forward the suggestion to Transport for London earlier this year.
“They have accepted our recommendation to extend this route,” said TravelWatch chair Sharon Grant.
“With Blackfriars Underground station closing soon, it’s important the 388 provides a good alternative.”
The extension has been agreed in the light of the closure of Blackfriars for two years from March while work goes ahead to link the District and Circle lines to the Thameslink station above.
