Rail commuters in Essex and east London on the Fenchurch Street service get more trains running on time than anywhere in the country, according to latest punctuality performance published by Network Rail this morning.

C2c has been named ‘most punctual rail company’ in Britain for the second year running, with 97 per cent of its trains meeting schedules during the 12 months ending March 31.

The company, which took over the Fenchurch Street-to-Tilbury and Southend run when British Rail was privatised 15 years ago, has also topped the industry’s monthly league table for the past two years.
