Unforeseen ground conditions during construction work for Crossrail at Whitechapel in east London has resulted in the southbound closure of the A107 Cambridge Heath Road.
The closure has meant bus diversions to the 106, 254 and N253 between Bethnal Green and Mile End Road, with three bus-stops being removed.
Lane restrictions were brought in last month while construction for the new Crossrail station got under way—but contractors encountered problems on Monday which has caused the southbound road closure until November 12 while excavations are carried out.
