Brisbane Road outfit aim to get back to winning ways on Saturday

Leyton Orient head coach Ian Hendon is looking forward to the prospect of facing Cambridge United this weekend after suffering a heavy loss last time out.

The O’s were beaten 4-0 at Exeter City, but still remain top of the League Two table with 12 points from their opening five games.

Although the 43-year-old was disappointed with the four-goal defeat last Saturday, he isn’t expecting his side to feel any extra pressure because they are still league leaders.

Hendon said: “I don’t think being top will put any pressure on. I was actually quite pleased with some aspects of the game at Exeter.

“We passed the ball well. We got in and around their box at will at times and like I said, it was just that end product at Exeter. Where we have looked bright and sharp and scored lots of goals previously, it just didn’t happen this time.

“We may need to address our style of football somewhat because maybe we played too nice football at Exeter and didn’t really get it in their box and affect them enough.

“I don’t think it was a four nil game, but I am sure some will. Congratulations to Exeter, but we need to move on and we have a tough game at Cambridge.”

The former West Ham United coach believes he is learning all the time in his first managerial role since the summer of 2010.

Hendon was in charge of Barnet in League Two a while ago, but he has been familiar with the division anyway.

“I am learning every week about the division, but it is not like I have been out of this level of football for three or four years,” added the O’s head coach.

“I was out watching games all the time when I was at West Ham and I watched a lot at this level so I wouldn’t say I have been away from League Two football, but of course you are learning about your players all the time.

“That is one thing I would say. The football has not been reinvented in any way, but it is how we manage our players now and how we try and turn it around.”

Orient will hope to get back to winning ways against the U’s this weekend and continue to show why they are a force to be reckoned with this season.
