TWO teenagers have been jailed at the Old Bailey today (Friday) for a total of 32 years for plotting to murder a pregnant 15-year-old.

Student Brandon Jolie, 19, a music producer who was living at in Bow in East London at the time, was jailed for 14 years for conspiring to murder the girl at the Regent’s Canal in Hoxton last year. He had pleaded guilty in February.

Fellow student Kingsley Ogundele, 19, an amateur grime’ artist from Romford who was found guilty on October 27, was sentenced to 18 years.

The pair plotted to murder the girl after Jolie found she was pregnant with his baby. He was worried it might ruin his burgeoning music career and confided in Ogundele and together they hatched the plot.

Jolie arranged to meet her on November 12 last year, when she was 26 weeks pregnant.

He lured her to the canal with text messages, where she was attacked from behind by Ogundele with a metal pole over the head before being punched and thrown into the water.

But a man passing by heard her screams and ran to help, causing Ogundele to flee.

He pulled her out and she was taken to hospital with minor head injuries. Her unborn child was unharmed.

Det Ins Helen Williams said outside the court today: “If it wasn’t for the courageous intervention of a passer-by, this would have been a murder investigation.

“It's hard to comprehend the casual way in which they callously plotted to kill the girl, all because they didn’t want Jolie’s aspirations of fame to be affected.”

The judge told the pair they would spend the best part of their lives behind bars for their callous action when they intended that both the girl and her unborn baby would die.
