The new boss of a dedicated team that offers support and advice to hundreds of retail workers in Canary Wharf has been named.

Barbara Hume is the lead chaplain of the Canary Wharf Multifaith Chaplaincy that helps employees at more than 300 shops in the area.

Barbara was previously the rector of seven rural parishes and has more than 20 years of involvement in chaplaincy.

She is a trained insurance clerk and achieved a Bachelor of Arts degree as a mature student – in her 50s.

“I am delighted to join the chaplaincy and offer support to the retail workers of Canary Wharf,” she said.

“Crucial to our work at the chaplaincy is our confidential, non-judgmental approach. We invite anyone who wants to have a chat – whether you have a faith or not - to get

in touch. We will never start a faith discussion and you tell us what you want to talk about. So have a conversation with us – we’re here to talk.”
