A WOMAN with breast cancer determined not to let the long road to recovery get her down is taking part in next month's 20-mile London Night Hike.
Georgie was diagnosis with breast cancer in March, when she returned home to Hackney in East London from an adventure holiday in Australia.
But just weeks after her fourth surgery, she is fundraising for Maggie's Cancer Caring centres.
She is the motivation behind 'breast foot forward,' a team she has put together with her sisters Lu, Sophie and Willa and her partner to take part in the charity fundraiser on September 18.
"Maggie's has been a welcoming place for me just to be in while waiting for my treatment on chemo days," said the 32-year-old.
"The garden is a peaceful little refuge and I'm grateful that it is located at the hospital I've been treated in.
"You can just stroll in, as I first did on the day I was diagnosed. The cup of tea and advice I got went down a treat!"
Georgie is looking for online sponsors and is determined to make her mark while still waiting for further treatment.
She was in the middle of a short trip to Australia, kayaking and cycling, when she noticed a lump.
"I didn't believe it was anything serious," she recalls.
"But am glad I went to the GP and got an early referral and screening at Charing Cross Hospital. My cancer was caught early."
The 2009 London Night Hike is set to attract 2,000 people taking to the streets to walk 20 miles through the night with exclusive access to buildings such as Horse Guards and the Royal Geographic Society.
