Thousands of women are planning to run in Victoria Park in east London this summer to raise money for cancer research.

Organisers are asking mums, grans, sisters, aunts, daughters and friends to enter the Saturday ‘Race for Life’ 5k and 10k events on June 28.

It is the first time Cancer Research UK is holding one of its ‘Race for Life’ event at Vicky Park—but the women don’t have to be athletics champs or even fit.

“It’s not competitive,” the charity’s Felicity Stevens promised. “The ‘Race for Life’ isn’t about being fast or fit, but celebrating life and remembering those who’ve died.”

Cancer Research is appealing for 3,000 women and girls to take part and help raise £230,000, by calling 0845-600 6050, or going online.
