A SERIES of urban walks’ is planned in a public fitness campaign to get people out of cars and buses.

The urban walks are up to five miles long which include three routes through East London the weekend after next.

Wannabe urban ramblers’ are being invited to meet outside Limehouse DLR station at 2pm on Saturday week, May 30, for a four-mile hike along the Regent’s Canal and through Victoria Park to Hackney Wick.

Another walk arranged by the River Thames Society begins at the same time from the Eat caf� at Tower Hill, going along the riverbank five miles to Island Gardens at Cubitt Town, on the Isle of Dogs, opposite Greenwich.

A third walk through East London is planned the following day, May 31, starting outside Bromley-by-Bow station at 1.30pm heading five miles along the Lea riverbank to in Bow Ecology Park and the East India Dock Basin at Blackwall, finishing at Greenwich.
