A bus driver is swapping the Bow depot for a workshop to restore classic cars in a new TV show.

Steve Barrell met his wife Marie at the depot in Fairfield Road more than a decade ago, and the duo will return next month for the unveiling of the refurbished 1972 P6 Rover after three weeks worth of elbow grease has been applied.

Steve - who has been a classic car enthusiast since a young age - had long harboured hopes of renovating a P6, but a poor run of health had prevented him from pursuing the project.

But wife Marie went behind his back to contact TV show Car S.O.S to help him fulfil his dreams.

The handy-work will be unveiled in the episode on Thursday March 14, when the couple will return to the depot where they first met.
