TWO drivers were injured during the night in a road smash after a high speed chase through East London. The Met Police helicopter was involved in a pursuit when a Mercedes was in collision with a taxi on the Old Ford northbound slip-road leading onto the A12 dual carriageway near Hackney Wick at 12.15am
TWO drivers were injured during the night in a road smash after a high speed chase through East London.
The Met Police helicopter was involved in a pursuit when a Mercedes was in collision with a taxi on the Old Ford northbound slip-road leading onto the A12 dual carriageway near Hackney Wick at 12.15am (Monday).
The Merc was seen travelling northward from the direction of the Blackwall Tunnel when it drove onto the slip-road towards Hackney Wick, then continued onto a second slip-road back onto the A12 when it was in collision with the taxi.
The driver had serious face injuries and was treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken by ambulance to hospital. Police in pursuit of a man on foot arrested him close by.
The taxi driver had minor in juries. Firefighters were called in to clear oil and petrol spillage on the slip-road.
