CAMPAIGNERS aiming to prevent youngsters getting involved in “radicalisation and extremism” in London’s East End are getting Government cash for alternative’ activities.
They are tackling three tiers of pre-radicalisation, self-identification and indoctrination.
Some 28 community projects in Tower Hamlets have been shortlisted by the local authority out of 80 applications to get Whitehall funding for schemes under the Prevent Violent Extremism’ programme for the next three years.
These range from getting youngsters involved in boxing and football, to taking part in workshops and debates.
The projects are now being negotiated for agreements with the council in January, when a final list is published. They are expected to go live’ in February.
