Cash grants fund sports for disadvantaged

GRANTS of £1,000 are being offered for disadvantaged community groups in London’s East End to be more active in sport.

They are available from St Katharine & Shadwell Trust, the community foundation in Wapping which has been given funding by Sport Relief to help tackle exclusion and isolation’ facing poor and disadvantaged groups

They are available from St Katharine & Shadwell Trust, the community foundation in Wapping which has been given funding by Sport Relief to help tackle 'exclusion and isolation' facing poor and disadvantaged groups.

One group likely to receive cash had organised a women's athletics day which brought together different generations and gave many women a chance to take part in activities they normally cannot be part of because of cultural and religious barriers.

Grants are limited, so the trust is urging groups to apply early. Guidance is available online at:
