Fire officers are investigating the cause of a blaze that damaged the entrance lobby and lift at a block of flats just before midnight on Saturday night.
Nine people who escaped from the flats at Lake View Estate, in Old Ford Road, Bow before the emergency services arrived were treated for smoke inhalation by paramedics from the London Ambulance Service.
Two men, four women and three children escaped from the building. Crews carried out a systematic search of the remainder of the flats.
Four fire engines, 21 firefighters and officers from Poplar, Shoreditch, Homerton and Whitechapel fire stations attended the incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
