British Transport Police released CCTV stills after a group of three women were assaulted, with one suffering a fractured eye socket, following an argument over rubbish at Liverpool Street station.

Investigating officer Sgt James Tyrrell said: "All the victims did was to simply ask a woman to stop throwing her litter at them.

"Unfortunately, a friend of the woman who threw the rubbish took offence at this request and viciously assaulted the group of three women."

The incident took place on July 11, at 10.45pm, outside the station McDonalds when a woman began to throw rubbish at three other women aged between 27 and 30.

The group asked the woman to stop throwing her rubbish. However, a man she was with went onto assault the trio.

The victims were pushed and punched before the man elbowed one of the group in the face, which resulted in the victim suffering a hairline fracture to her eye socket.

The woman police want to talk to is described as white, between the ages of 20 and 23, with blond hair, which was tied in a ponytail.

She was wearing an orange dress with a leopard print pashmina scarf.

The man police want to talk to is described as white, around 5'10", also aged between 20 and 23, with short dark brown hair.

"This was a violent and unprovoked assault," added Sgt Tyrrell. "We have isolated CCTV images of two people we wish to speak with in connection with what happened and urge anyone with information to come forward."
