OLDER East Enders were celebrated in an event designed to bring young and old together last week.

Tower Hamlets council's Spring into Summer event, which took place at Bishop Challoner School last Thursday, was organised in conjunction with the Department for Work and Pensions' LinkAge Plus programme and aimed at celebrating the achievements made by older people.

Rachael Childs, Older Persons' Project Manager for Tower Hamlets and Hackney said: "Spring into Summer is an exciting event for all older people in the borough to come together and celebrate their lives.

"It stands apart from other events for older people in its focus on fun, socialising and celebration and is an important chance to make new friends, try new things and kick back your heels with other local people."

Activities on the day will included theatre, dancing, cookery classes, chess tournaments, bowles, life drawing and a film show.
