The passenger who fell onto the electric track at Mile End station on the Central line has since died.
Paramedics and ambulance crews including the Air Ambulance from Whitechapel were called to the scene at 10.15am when the incident was reported.
They treated then injured passenger at the scheme on the eastbound platform while thew station was closed.
“Sadly the person died at the scene, despite the efforts of our medics,” a London Ambulance spokesman told the East London Advertiser.
“We sent an ambulance crew and a motorcycle responder as well as London’s air ambulance team to Mile End station.”

Transport police are working to identify the dead passenger to inform their family. This incident is not being treated suspicious and a file is being prepared for the coroner, Transport police have confirmed.
Services on the Central line are back to normal after the line was shut down for nearly an hour.
