Martin Kolton, chairman of East London’s Central Training Group has recently been awarded an MBE for his services to the hairdressing industry and youth training.
He is known for establishing the Central Hairdressing Academy, the largest provider of NVQ hairdressing qualifications in the UK. His academies, which also specialise in graphics and business, have qualified over 20,000 young people.
Mr Kolton is also the co-founder of the Joshua Galvin Academy in Cambridge Heath Road, Bethnal Green, which gives students the chance to train at top salons.
Mr Kolton said: “I was very surprised and moved to find out that I was to receive this prestigious accolade, but the reality is without my business partners and the team around me, Central Training Group would not have grown into the organization it is today.
“Guiding young people into the world of hairdressing is immensely rewarding- it is a very inspiring industry and I feel very grateful for the opportunities it has given me.”
