Lee: Orient ready to take on Mad Dog’s Spireites

Leyton Orient midfielder Charlie Lee insists the O’s cannot wait to go toe-to-toe with Chesterfield this weekend in the National League.
The two former Football League clubs are expected to be near the upper echelons of the table come the conclusion of the campaign.
Chesterfield were relegated from League Two last season while the O’s have had their first settled summer for a long time.
Orient also go into the encounter at the Proact Stadium in fifth position and still unbeaten after seven games while Martin Allen’s Spireites have suddenly hit a big stumbling block.

After starting the campaign with three wins from three, Chesterfield have now lost four in a row and it all adds to an eagerly anticipated clash this Saturday.
Lee said: “They have some good players and they have a manager who knows how to get results, so it will be an interesting one.

“We are full of confidence and we go everywhere expecting to get three points, but always looking for at least one point and if you piece it together hopefully the results will come and Saturday is a game we are looking forward to.”
It is expected Lee will start again this weekend and if he does, it will be the sixth consecutive match he has started this term.
Last season, the ex-Stevenage midfielder played Orient’s first five matches, but then picked up a bad knee injury in training and missed the majority of the campaign.
Lee suffered anterior cruciate ligament damage to his knee, but has worked hard since August 2017 to get back fit and firing again.
On Monday, in the 3-0 home win over Dover Athletic, the 31-year-old was outstanding and produced his best display in an Orient shirt.
The former Peterborough United ace was quick to thank head coach Justin Edinburgh, adding: “It’s been a tough year for me coming back from injury and after pre-season I felt brilliant, and then you start to pick up little niggles and begin to get frustrated, but the gaffer has been amazing with me.
“He has helped me when I’ve got little knocks and I am starting to reap the rewards now and my fitness levels are good.
“I haven’t had any real injuries, so I feel I can get out there and do it and I am enjoying my football, and Monday was brilliant.”
After visiting Chesterfield, O’s will play host to Solihull Moors on Tuesday (September 4.)
