Cheers! This one’s on the cops in hunt for East End’s best bars and boozers

The police have joined “happy hour” looking for bars and boozers in London’s East End to track down the best-run watering hole.
The Met is sharing a round with Truman Brewery, Canary Wharf Group and Tower Hamlets Council in a competition to find the top licensed premises for the Best Bar None scheme.
Venues are being assessed to help raise standards—and a glass—to responsible management.
The competition targets Brick Lane and Canary Wharf for two winners in February—one gets the ‘Best Bar in Brick Lane’ accolade and the other ‘Crown of Canary Wharf’.
“We have some of the most iconic streets in London for drinking,” Deputy Tower Hamlets Mayor Shiria Khatun proudly boasted. “It’s important that the public can enjoy them knowing they’re clean, safe, and managed responsibly.”
The council and police are using the contest to ‘call time’ on sleazy boozers by introducing an element of healthy competition among the East End’s bars, clubs and eateries.
Owners and managers wanting to enter can contact Tower Hamlets Licensing Team on 020-7364 2286 or email email@example.com
