CROWDS thronged to Brick Lane on Wednesday as celebrity judges crowned one chef the capital's 'Curry King'.
Amir Uddin of Eastern Eye Balti House was named Curry Chef of the Year by celebrity chef Andy Varma and Goodness Gracious Me and EastEnders actress Nina Wadia at the launch of the Brick Lane Curry Festival.
The competition kick started the two week festival which will see restaurants serve up traditional Bengali cuisine and lay on entertainment for the thousands of visitors expected to flock to London's curry mile.
