A chemist who has had a pharmacy for 25 years has collected 500 signatures in protest of being "forced" to move her shop away from an East End estate.

Taisia Pianov who runs the Mayors Chemist on Merchant Street, off Bow Road, says she has build up a large customers base from in an around nearby British Street Estate. But now the housing association East End Homes want to demolish the shop to make way for a supermarket and housing, Taisia said.

Taisia, who came to the East End as a political refuge fleeing communist Russia, says a lot of the "old community" has gone already since three other shops on the street were cleared for the development.

Taisia says she has been given until Monday to vacate the shop.
