Children and adults alike put on their woolly jumpers to enjoy outdoor activities at East London’s city farms over the Easter weekend.
At Stepney City Farm anyone who plays an instrument were urged to join musicians while an Easter egg hunt was also put on by the Salvation Army in Stepney. A series of craft workshops also took place while tea and simnel cake was served. It was also a chance for children to meet the latest arrivals at the farm in Stepney Way, including spring lambs and chicks.
Down at Muchute Farm on the Isle of Dogs children can help the farmer bottlefeed their orphan lambs every day at set times until April 12.
The farm in Pier Street this year brought in lambs from elsewhere to stop interbreeding among its own lambs.
Throughout the Easter holidays children can join farmers on their rounds at feeding time and get a taste of what it takes to look after farm animals. Other Easter activities at the farm, running until April 12, include an outdoor classroom with arts and crafts, and fun days with bingo, arts and crafts, face painting and a chance to meet cartoon characters Mickey and Minnie.
