PUPILS from Virginia Primary School joined representatives from Tower Hamlets Council, English Heritage and others to officially open the restored Boundary Gardens yesterday (Tuesday).

The gardens at Arnold Circus has benefited from an �650,000 investment, mostly through section 106 planning gain contributions from Hammerson, the developer of Bishops Square in Spitalfields, as well as a grant from English Heritage.

The works included restoring the Grade II listed 100-year-old bandstand – the focal point of the gardens - along with improvements to the pathways, railings, planting and lighting.

During the opening celebration photograph albums documenting the improvement works that have taken place were presented to English Heritage and Virginia Primary School.

A copy of this album will be deposited in the Council’s Local History Library at Bancroft Road for historians to consult in the future.
