A floating 45ft tree goes on display in the dock marina next to the Tower of London the opening of a Christmas market and film festival.

The tree weighs nearly six tonnes with its 14,000 lights which light up on November 24 at St Katharine Docks to get people into the spirit of Yuletide.

A floating Christmas movie festival follows from December 5 to 11 where film buffs can wrap up in blankets and snuggle down on bean bags to watch classic seasonal favourites like Home Alone, Frozen, Love Actually and The Polar Express with hot chocolate, mulled wine and an assortment of food from the riverside restaurants.

Fetival tickets are online from St Katharine Docks.

A Christmas market follows from December 16 to 18 when children can feed and pet some of Santa’s reindeer while mums and dads can listen to the Capital Concert Brass band and the National Youth Jazz Orchestra.
