Methodist worshippers in London’s East End are having to share Sunday services with a neighbouring Anglican parish while their own church is being redeveloped.
The congregation at Old Ford is without its church in Roman Road which closed last week for reconstruction work to begin.
The church built in the late Victorian era is being redeveloped into a residential block of flats with a hall of worship on the ground floor.
The congregation moved on Sunday to St Paul’s Anglican church in St Stephen’s Road, round the corner.
The two congregations are sharing Sunday worship for the next 18 months while the work at the Methodist centre is being carried out.
