Australian frustrated with Accrington defeat, looks ahead to Hartlepool United and discusses the international break

Leyton Orient goalkeeper Alex Cisak was disappointed with their 1-0 defeat to Accrington Stanley on Good Friday.

Kevin Nolan’s side travelled up to the Crown Ground hoping to earn a fifth away success from his first six matches on the road.

But after a goalless first half, Scott Brown smashed past the O’s custodian from inside the area to score what would turn out to be the winner.

The Australian was forced to make another stunning save afterwards before being called into making numerous other saves.

Unfortunately Orient weren’t able to create enough to get back into the game and they’ve dropped out of the play-offs places as a result.

“I didn’t want to be that busy to be honest. It just happened like that. When you are away from home we need to be solid and not let them have any chances,” said Cisak.

“We needed to create more at the other end, but if we had been a lot more solid then they would have got frustrated and it would have helped create opportunities for us on the counter-attack, but it didn’t happen.

“I don’t think it was tactics, the players personally just didn’t keep their shape enough and maybe we tried to attack too much and went for the win.

“Maybe we should have sat back more and tried to get them on the counter. But the game is over now so we just need to concentrate for Monday.”

Earlier in the campaign, Cisak was unavailable for O’s league clash with Exeter City due to the international break.

He also missed the loss to Hartlepool United in November, shown live on Sky Sports, because he was with Australia.

But the 26-year-old doesn’t think all League One and Two matches should be postponed when it is an international weekend.

Cisak added: “I think it is what it is because in reality there is not many international players in League Two teams.

“Obviously we’re missing Jobi McAnuff and Calaum Jahraldo-Martin, but other sides will have the same problem.

“Some sides have players missing and others don’t. That is the reality of League Two football. Obviously in the Championship you have a lot more people unavailable so you have a break, but it is what it is.”

Orient’s number one admitted it was important they bounce back when Hartlepool visit Brisbane Road on Monday.

Cisak welcomed having the fixture come around so quickly, rather than having to wait a whole seven days like normal.

He added: “We’ve got to forget about this Accrington defeat now and look to Monday. We have got to be ready, play well and get a clean sheet and hopefully score a few goals.

“But we need to work as hard as we can now with eight games left of the season. Normally you have to wait a week to right your wrongs, but we just want to crack on for Monday now and give 100 per cent.

“We just need to create those chances, keep it solid at the back and hopefully we get the win.”
