Pupils taking GCSE at George Green’s Secondary visited Canary Wharf to hear from business experts about technological innovation in finance.
The visit gave the 20 pupils a chance to meet potential employees at Citi bank which has been running a global programme raising money for seven education non-profit projects around the world.
One of the charities benefitting from this year’s ‘E for Education’ programme which concluded in Friday is Teach First, which works with George Green’s and other schools to help pupils from low-income backgrounds get equal chances, whatever their family income.
Citi bank’s Al Saeed said: “This is about training young people, teaching them about the markets and give career advice to help them towards careers. It goes beyond raising funds and is about getting our teams involved.”
The programme has raised £1.6m for Teach First over the past four years which has helped 120,000 disadvantaged youngsters up and down the country by tackling inequality in education.
