High flying pupils from state schools in Tower Hamlets are being urged to apply for internships with some of the UK’s top businesses.
The programme, run by the City of London Corporation, aims to increase representation of people from boroughs surrounding the Square Mile in top jobs in the legal and financial sectors.
At least 100 paid placements of between six and 13 weeks are up for grabs for 18 and 19 year olds who have finished their A-levels. But competition is expected to be fierce, with at least four applicants expected for every internship.
Mark Boleat, from the City of London Corporation, said: “This scheme ensures that bright students on the Square Mile’s doorstep are given the opportunity to develop the best skills and contacts which will set them apart in a competitive jobs market.”
