Bank staff are scaling the heights to get cash for east London’s children’s hospice in 26 hours of steep fundraising action.

Some hope to climb three of the tallest mountain peaks in Britain in just 23 hours, before colleagues take on the stairs of three tower blocks in the City and Canary Wharf in three hours flat.

The first group starts 6pm next Thursday (June 5) climbing Scotland’s 4,000ft Ben Nevis, the tallest peak in Britain, then Scafell Pike in the Lake District and Snowdon in North Wales—hopefully all in 23 hours to finish at 5pm Friday.

The second group then starts climbing the stairs at the 46-storey Heron Tower in Bishopsgate, Canary Wharf’s 50-storey 1 Canada Square and finishing at the top of Barclay’s 32-storey head office at 1 Churchill Place by 8pm.

Both teams are raising money for Richard House through the national children’s hospice group ‘Together For Short Lives’, which makes sure every child not expected to reach adulthood and their family has the best care and support whenever needed, and the Diana Award which recognises young people who improve the lives of others through volunteering, fundraising, caring and anti-bullying campaigning.
