Nurses and patients in east London raised £210 for Macmillan Cancer Care when they took part in ‘the world’s biggest coffee morning’.

Staff and visitors joined in for cake and hot drinks at the London Independent Hospital in Stepney Green and shared time together.

“Cancer is one of those diseases that touch so many people,” hospital executive director Sunny Chada said.

“So for me, it’s important to do something which ultimately supports our patients who have a cancer diagnosis. Macmillan Cancer Care is doing an incredible job.”

But the final fundraising count at the hospital, part of the BMI medical group, didn’t include text message donations made on the day, according to organiser Charmaine Moore.
