RESIDENTS are being reassured they can feel safer when out on the busy Columbia Road with two new CCTV cameras in operation.
Following public demand, Tower Hamlets council has installed the new cameras on the junction with Gossett Street and at the junction with Ravenscroft Road and signs have been put up in the area to highlight them.
Tower Hamlets council's environment councillor Abdal Ullah said: "Columbia Road is one of the capital's most famous streets, and on market day it's a hive of activity.
"These cameras will act as a major deterrent to crime and anti-social behaviour and help make residents and visitors to the borough to feel safer.
