Comedian Norman Pace was a hit with east London pensioners introducing entertainment on stage who remembered his TV hits in the 1980s — but this time without microwaving cat.
Norman, one half of Hale and Pace comedy duo, was the surprise Master of Ceremonies at a festive lunch for 120 senior citizens organised by Eastend Homes at Southern Grove community centre in Mile End.
They were famous for their ‘take’ on the Krays with their ‘Two Rons’ stone-faced bouncers known as ‘The Management’, with the phrase “I do Ron, Ron”, mimicking the Crystals 1960s’ hit ‘Da Doo Ron Ron’.
But they hit media controversy with their ITV comedy series when they appeared to have microwaved a cat. The sketch got them into the ‘50 Most Shocking Comedy Moments’ hit list.
Norman’s appearance at Mile End wasn’t quite so notorious —the microwave at least was locked away in the kitchen.
