Commuter trains are getting a clean-up in east London with a new washing system which buffs up exterior paintwork.
All 257 four-carriage trains operated by Greater Anglia on the Liverpool Street network are being treated with a new ‘Eurowash’ product applied by hand which strips away the build-up of grime such as brake dust which affects the paintwork.
The cleaning programme is being carried out till the end of the year at the Ilford deport for trains operating on lines from Liverpool Street through Bethnal Green to Chingford, Enfield Town, Hertford East and Stansted Airport, and on services through Stratford to Southend Victoria, Clacton-on-Sea and the east coast.
