Commuters are being offered a walk-in sex health clinic on their way home from work.

They can now pop into Boots the Chemist in Liverpool Street main-line station where sexual health staff from Barts health trust are running a new drop-in service.

NHS staff offer tests and discuss symptoms with anyone worried that they may have a sexually-transmitted infection. Information is also given about sexual health issues, with a private consultation room for confidentiality.

“It can be difficult finding time to squeeze in an appointment,” consultant Vanessa Apea explained. “Commuters lead busy lives.

“Anyone concerned about their sexual health should to drop in and speak to one of our team.”

The health trust, which runs the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel, sees 110,000 people a year at clinics in east London and the City.

The new drop-in clinic provides screening and treatment, as well as professional guidance from a nurse “to manage their sexual health.”

Two clinics a week are now open, Wednesday 12 noon to 4pm and Thursday 4-8pm. Commuters can walk in or book an appointment online.
