Concord manager Moore hoping to create lasting link with O’s

The 30-year-old is looking to work with Leyton Orient this season and backed Justin Edinburgh to win promotion
Sammy Moore is hopeful of creating a link between his new club Concord Rangers and old side Leyton Orient.
The ex-O’s midfielder saw his Beach Boys team push Justin Edinburgh’s men close during a pre-season friendly at the weekend which ended 3-2 to the National League outfit.
Moore took over at Thames Road this summer after time in charge of Leatherhead last season and while at his old Bostik Premier club, he signed O’s trio Sam Sargeant, Aron Pollock and Ruel Sotiriou on loan.
Now he is Concord boss, he is aiming to keep up the good relationship he has with the E10 club and work with more Orient players.

“I want a connection with the O’s and I spoke to Martin Ling and Justin on Saturday about it,” said Moore.
“I want to be able to take young players on loan from Orient or others if they need to get minutes and Orient can know they are coming to a club which is doing the right things on and off the pitch.

“I want the link to continue and I am sure it will and last Saturday was a great day so I am really excited about the future at Concord Rangers.”
The Beach Boys provided the O’s with a stern workout at Thames Road and although they couldn’t hold onto their two-goal lead and win, Moore was impressed with his side.
He also praised the efforts of Edinburgh since taking the Orient job on November 29 and feels he is definitely the man to get them promoted.
After finishing 13th in the 2017/18 campaign, the east Londoners will seek to finish in the play-offs this season and Moore is confident they will do well.
He added: “When I left Orient I did say the National League is one of the toughest leagues to get out of and it proved to be the case.
“Tranmere Rovers were in there and they have finally got up, but I saw a very good Orient squad on Saturday with competition for places.
“In Justin, they have a manager who knows the league, knows how to win games and how to win promotion, so they have everything in place to have a really good season.
“Hopefully it’s only positive for O’s fans going forward and they can be excited about the year ahead and can get back into the Football League which is where they belong.”
