POLICE in Barking are appealing for witnesses to trace a man they believe was involved in an assault outside a hotel.
Officers are redoubling their efforts as they are keen to identify the suspect, who they believe is from Tower Hamlets, and have released CCTV footage connected with the assault outside the Ibis Hotel in Highbridge Road, Barking on June 27.
The suspect, thought to have the nickname "Sharkey" struck a taxi driver over the head with a glass bottle after a dispute over the fare.
The cab driver did not require hospital treatment and has no lasting injuries.
Police are asking anyone who can identify the suspect, or has any information concerning this incident, to contact Det Con Malcolm Young on 020 8 217 5535 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
