Cops nab fare dodgers in swoop on 17 bendy buses

NEARLY 1,000 passengers had their tickets checked in a police swoop to catch fare dodgers on the notorious 25 bus route along the Bow Road.

Cops and transport inspectors boarded 17 bendy buses throughout the day in a special operation at Grove Hall Park near Bow Bridge, Transport for London revealed this week.

The operation involved checking tickets of 935 passengers which resulted in 29 penalty fares at £50 a time being issued and 20 passengers being reported for possible prosecution for fare evasion on June 23. Police also made one arrest.

Inspectors carry out regular checks on the 25 route said to be plagued by fare-dodging.
