POLICE have arrested 110 suspects in the past eight weeks in London’s East End using CCTV street cameras. Figures out today show 45 arrested in August and 65 in July from surveillance operations by Tower Hamlets council
POLICE have arrested 110 suspects in the past eight weeks in London’s East End using CCTV street cameras.
Figures out today show 45 arrested in August and 65 in July from surveillance operations by Tower Hamlets council.
These include 11 for public order and affray, eight for criminal damage and four for assault.
There were 342 incidents monitored in August, with images from 171 handed to police for evidence. July’s monitored incidents totalled 327, with 174 images handed to police.

The CCTV room also led to nine arrests for special police operations in July.
This year alone, 519 arrests have been made from surveillance from 250 street cameras operated by Tower Hamlets council, with 70 on direct view at any one time.
