Cops recruit youths as young as 13 in Tower Hamlets

The first ‘Cop’ course of 2011 for East End youngsters had its passing out parade with some youths eager to sign up to Tower Hamlets police cadets.

The 18 youngsters aged 13 to 17 took part in a week-long programme at Bow police centre which finished last Friday.

The aim was to challenge attitudes by teaching new life skills and good citizenship to reduce the chance of getting involved in crime.

The Cop Course has recruited 20 youths into Tower Hamlets Police Cadets since it began in 2005.
