DETECTIVES are still appealing for information and witnesses following the death of an eight-year-old girl who fell 15 storeys from a block of flats last weekend.

Leanne Minick fell around 150 feet to her death from the 15th floor of Sandall House in Daling Way, Bow on the afternoon of Saturday, September 11.

She was treated at the scene and was taken to Royal London Hospital by air ambulance but was pronounced dead around 15:30pm. Her death is still being treated as unexplained.

An inquest which was due to open into Leanne’s death last Thursday was postponed for a full post mortem examination to be carried out.

Leanne’s body was scanned last week but experts decided a full examination needed to be performed to ascertain a cause of death, which has been given as multiple injuries consistent with a fall from height.

A police spokesman said an inquest will open at Poplar Coroner’s Court in due course.

The Met’s specialist crime directive is investigating the incident.

Investigating officer Det Chief Insp Michael Orchard said: “I appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident, or has information that can assist this investigation, no matter how small or insignificant you feel it may be, to contact us.

“We know that immediately after the incident a group of people gathered at the scene. Also the tower block is overlooked by numerous other properties nearby. I appeal to those people who have not yet spoken to police to get in contact, as you may have information that can assist our enquiries.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact 020 8217 6455 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
