A new street market has been opened in London’s East End by entrepreneur Anna Rosas close to the famous Columbia Road flower market.

The 32-year-old professional events organiser from Limehouse has signed a deal with Rolling Stock nightclub in Shoreditch to run the Sunday venture on their premises under railway arches in Cottons Garden, a cul-de-sac off Kingsland Road, near Hoxton Overground.

She has so far signed up 10 stall-holders including a French patisserie, Peruvian hand-made jewellery, craft, vintage goods and ‘high end’ street food cuisine.

It has attracted 150 shoppers each Sunday in its first four pilot weeks.

“Food traders were first in our target market,” Anna explained. “But the traders have attracted others by word-of-mouth.”

Her agreement with the nightclub runs until the end of September—but Anna plans to expand it into permanent market.

“I want to renew the agreement beyond September,” she added.

A £25 fee to trade in food and £20 in crafts is just enough to keep it going week-by-week.

Cotton’s Garden Market trades each Sunday from noon to 6pm.
