A COUNCIL worker is in line for a record �1 million age discrimination payout after Tower Hamlets council lost its appeal.
John Wooster was made redundant from his �39,000 a year job as a senior consultation officer just months short of his fiftieth birthday, meaning he had to wait until 65 to get any pension payout.
He started work with the council when he was 16 and is the third generation of his family to be connected with East End local government.
His grandfather John was mayor of Poplar and one of the councillors involved in the famous Poplar rate strike of 1921.
Tower Hamlets council is considering whether to appeal the judgement of the Employment Tribunal Appeal this wek.
