AN INQUIRY into an allegation of electoral fraud in a Tower Hamlets council by-election in East London has been dropped, the Crown Prosecution Service confirmed this week.
The inquiry was set up in June and was believed to be centred on the Weavers polling ward in Bethnal Green that was won by Fazul Haque for Labour in May.
Cllr Haque strongly denied any wrongdoing. The CPS has now confirmed there was no sufficient evidence to charge anyone and there would be no further action.
