Dean Cox wants Leyton Orient to pick up maximum points from the two games they have coming up at Brisbane Road this week.

Ian Hendon’s side first host Carlisle United tonight (Tuesday) before welcoming Notts County to east London on Saturday.

Last time out in E10 a difficult encounter occurred between the O’s and Wycombe Wanderers, but a goal from Jay Simpson earned the hosts a point.

Prior to that Orient had won three out of three at home, scoring seven goals and conceding none – defeating the likes of Barnet, Stevenage and Bristol Rovers at Brisbane Road.

Cox, fresh from scoring the equaliser against Northampton Town, is keen for Hendon’s men to get back to winning ways against the Cumbrians.

He said: “We will look to try and get maximum points from the games at Brisbane Road. We are at home against Carlisle and we have been knocked off our perch at Northampton.

“We were disappointed in the dressing room to lose top spot, but not too disappointed because we are looking forward to playing at home in front of our fans and putting in some good performances and hopefully getting some good results.”

After drawing 1-1 with the Cobblers, Orient dropped to third in the table as Wycombe and Portsmouth leapfrogged them.

Cox believes the O’s have to get used to opposition sides raising their game against them because they are a big scalp in the division.

Hendon’s side are yet to win this month, but have been racking up the miles on the road and faced a number of tough teams.

Carlisle are another side that will provide a difficult test, but Orient will be confident of earning a first win since August 29.

“We are a big scalp and we have set the standard and people want to take us off our perch. We have to combat that and raise our game and at Northampton I think we did that,” added Cox.

“On Saturday we created a number of chances and played some good stuff at times, it was just about getting them goals because goals do change games.

“We had a couple of opportunities in the first half and definitely in the second half, some really clear-cut chances and if they go in I think we go on to win the game comfortably, but it wasn’t to be and in the end we are happy to come away with a point.”

Some fans might have left Sixfields Stadium before the end after Dominic Calvert-Lewin put Northampton ahead deep into stoppage time.

If they had exited early they would have missed Cox’s stunning equaliser, but nevertheless he was full of praise for the O’s support.

He added: “The fans have backed us from day one and they always will do, they have since I have been here for the past six years.

“They always back us and this season they have gone that extra mile and really been the 12th man for us. Every away game we have a great following.

“I am looking forward to seeing another big crowd at Brisbane Road for the Carlisle match and hopefully we can get the three points.”
