A SIX-YEAR-OLD boy was riding high after being given a new bike by an East End store – just days after his old cycle was cruelly snatched.

Malik McClean, of Blair Street, Poplar was out with his mother Sherifa holding onto the cycle he had only received the previous day when two teenage thugs grabbed it from him and rode off.

Police Constable Sean Williams and Police Constable Michelle Hamilton-Levey were so moved by how upset the youngster was when they went to see him after the incident on October 17 that they contacted Halfords in Mile End Road, Stepney Green.

The cycle store came to the rescue on Tuesday (October 26) and presented the schoolboy with a brand new model.

The youths who stole Malik’s first bike, BMX Refuge Equator, have not been found.

They were between 11 and 14-years-old and were described as dark-skinned.
