Officers investigating the fatal stabbing of 16-year-old Ajmol Alom in east London have arrested a fourth man on suspicion of murder.

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police Service said the 21-year-old was held at an address in Tower Hamlets and has been taken to an east London police station, where he remains in custody.

Promising student Ajmol was stabbed in the thigh in Spey Street, Poplar on August 13. A post mortem examination showed the single wound was fatal.

Aminur Nazir Khan, 19, of Robin Hood Gardens, E14, appeared at Thames Magistrates Court on Thursday, August 15, charged with murder.

He has since been remanded to appear at the Old Bailey.

Two other men were arrested in connection with the stabbing and have been bailed to return on a date in September.
