Terrence Baker, 29, from Limehouse, was assaulted at Plevna Street in Cubitt Town in the early hours of June 18.

He was taken to hospital where he remained in a critical condition for five months, but died yesterday. His next of kin have been informed.

His death is now being investigated by detectives from the Met’s Homicide and Major Crime Command.

A 32-year-old man was arrested on the day of the attack and charged with GBH with intent.

He was due to appear for trial at Snaresbrook Crown Court next Monday, but this is now being reviewed in light of Terrence Baker’s death.

Police are appealing for anyone with information about the attack to call them on 020 8345 3715, or dial 101, tweet police @MetCC, or anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800-555111.

Two women aged 30 and 31 were also arrested at the scene for a separate assault arising out of the same incident. Both have since been charged with common assault on a 27-year-old woman and have been bailed to appear on February 9 at Stratford Magistrates’ court.
